Melancholy.

Progression of a SLC sunset. Sept 2011.

mel·an·chol·y:  \ˈme-lən-kä-lē\
  1. Sadness or depression of the spirits; gloom.
  2. Pensive reflection or contemplation.  <--- My night.
  3. Archaic meaning - Black bile.
I had one of those nights last night.  One of those nights where I just felt totally out of sorts.  One of those nights full of melancholy and wanderlust and missing and wishing and dreaming and wanting and remembering and thinking and feeling and doubting and moody music and a cocktail or two.

You know.  One of those nights.

But now it is morning.  I've had some sleep.  I've had my coffee.  I've had a cuddle with Alice.  And I've had a kiss from my husband.

All seems right with the world again.

  1. I have those days/nights too. Glad you are feeling better. I find that a nap or good night's sleep can cure almost anything (and when you add a snuggle from your baby, you can't go wrong!).

  3. Don't let it get you down. We all have those nights. I sort of had one last night. I've been sick for a bit and the baby is too, so when she was up for 2 hours last night I broke down into tears because I'm so tired and my throat/ear hurts so bad, but she has it took, and I understand her pain. But all it took was a bit of back rubbing from my husband to be reminded how blessed I am even in these bad times.

So hugs and have a special coffee today to help pick you up and get some lovely fresh air!

  4. I love the beautiful sunset pictures. You really have a talent for getting the perfect picture... "just right".

So glad you are feeling up today. Just "picture" my arms around you, giving you a big hug. I love you!

  5. I am struggling as well (as if you can't tell by my recent post!). We wanted to live in Europe SO much, I just never knew it would be this hard. And sleep deprivation makes everything more difficult. Now I see why it's used as torture!

I hope you are feeling better.
