Weekend.

4'x10' of drywall strapped to the Jetta // Kitchen counter becomes a work bench // Snipping studs.

Breaking news: We have a bedroom door! Lee spent the majority of the weekend planning, framing, drywall-ing and then hanging our restored five-panel farmhouse door, officially making a bedroom in our previously bedroom-less loft. There is still some minor tinkering to be done to make the door fit perfectly and we won't have hardware for a few more weeks but there is now separation between the kitchen and our bedroom, which will hopefully lead to less whispering and less tiptoeing around while Alice is sleeping.

And less straining to hear the dialogue on our nightly watching of Breaking Bad.

Our weekend wasn't all work, though, as we had a celebratory birthday brunch on Sunday for Lee, Jaimie and her fiancé, Ben, who all have birthdays just a few days apart. Lee made a delicious chorizo and broccoli rabe frittata and arugula with bacon, mushrooms and blue cheese and I made a chocolate cinnamon coffee cake and one of the best brunch cocktails I've ever had: the Dark Moon.

Cold brewed coffee. Coffee liqueur. Spiced rum. Mexican Coke. And heavy cream.

Not surprisingly, we drank every last drop.

Weekend workouts: None! Other than a lot of heavy lifting of drywall and tools and our solid wood bedroom door.

  1. Yum! Your food always looks so good.

And, this is an odd comment, but Lee is such a good looking guy, I don't know if I ever told you that :)

Yay for a door! It's the little things, right?
