Around Town.

Before the rain... Utah Arts Festival.

With my in-laws in town, my blogging has taken a bit of a backseat this week. Since their arrival last Tuesday, we've packed our days full, showing them some of the sights of our beautiful little city. And Alice has certainly enjoyed spending time with her Canadian grandparents.

On Thursday we took the train to the Utah Arts Festival to browse the art, watch the performances and have some dinner. We got there around 4:30PM, made it down one row of vendors while eating a basket of french fries before the dark storm clouds rolled in. Shortly after that, the thunder and lightning began and the rain started.

And it never stopped. Our Arts Festival experience was cut short.

With the possibility of rain still lingering on Friday, we decided to enjoy an indoor activity so we took my in-laws to the Natural History Museum of Utah. Lee and I hadn't been yet and we were so impressed by the exhibits, the building, and the views. If you are ever in Salt Lake City or you live here and have never been, I highly recommend visiting this beautiful place.

Yesterday we showed Alice's grandparents her favorite splash-park in the city and today we'll take them to the mountains for some fresh air and views of the Wasatch. Our little city certainly shines this time of year.

Weekly Workouts: Monday - Despite my sickness (which I've now self-diagnosed as the Noro virus), I did a trail run! 9 miles/1:50/2,098 ft elev gain. Tuesday & Wednesday: Rest days! Thursday - CrossFit! Strength: 1RM squat snatch (light! 65lbs). WOD: 5RFT of 7 power snatches (55lbs) + 200m sprint. Wow, I felt weak!! Friday - Family run! 4.5 miles/40 min/408 ft elev gain.

  1. Great pictures of the Art's Festival. I love Grandpa P and Alice together. She is so smart, checking out all the metal sculptures. xo
