Tomorrow!

This is exactly why I didn't start my W30 before San Francisco. The Embarcadero Market.

Tomorrow I start my Whole30 and, for some reason, I'm really nervous. Most of my nerves come from the unknown, like how will I do without my afternoon cheese snack or my 5PM beer or my nightly after-dinner dessert? Mostly I'm scared for the no alcohol rule, though.

I'm sure that makes me sound like a complete drunk. But I swear I'm not.

When I tell people who are unfamiliar with the Whole30 that I am going to eat a certain way for 30 days they often look at my funny and say, "You seem to eat pretty healthy!" or "You don't need to lose weight!" (for which I thank them profusely). Here's the thing. I do think I eat pretty healthy and I'm not doing this only to lose weight but more as a science project. And what I eat and how my body reacts will be the experiment!

I don't believe that I have any food allergies but I do notice a few symptoms pretty consistently when I eat certain foods, like bloating and cramping and... I'll leave it at that. So for the next thirty days I'll be eating a ton of vegetables, a little bit of fruit, an array of different kinds of protein, and a lot of healthy fats. And that's it!

And coffee. Thank god they allow coffee (no cream and sugar, though).

I've heard that around day 4 I'll turn into a complete bitch. And then, by day 16 or so, I'll experience something called tiger blood. I can hardly wait.

So for the next few days, my blog will be a bit heavy on how changing what I eat affects me physically and, of course, emotionally. Hopefully you'll stick around on this new adventure with me.

My last donut! It was gluten-free, though.

  1. Excited to see how your 30 days go! I read the book It Starts With Food, and after reading it, I just don't think I could commit to such a program right now... I find the idea of ketosis a little frightening.

Good luck and I can't wait to see updates!

  3. Wow, 30 days. Sounds like a long time, but in the long haul, if it makes you feel better... then the 30 days will fly by. Keep us posted.
