Toasty Toes.

I finally got my corn pillow out this morning.  With temperatures in the single digits here in Boston, it is the perfect thing to keep my feet warm while I watch the Bachelor read a book on this chilly January day.  Haven't heard of a corn pillow?  My dear friend Grace makes and gives them as Christmas gifts.  Although I've never made one myself, I think it goes something like this:

Go to feed store.  Buy a bag of corn feed meant for farm animals.  Rinse it (maybe).  Make a cloth pillow out of cute fabric.  Add corn.  Sew up the sides.  Done!

But how do you warm it?  In the microwave for about 2 minutes.  Maybe it is a fire hazard (don't leave it unattended) and maybe it smells a bit like the farm when warm, but oh boy, does it feel toasty on the toes on a cold winter's day.  And tucked between chilly sheets before turning in for the night?  Wonderful.

  1. Such a clever idea. I use a microwaved rice-filled sock as a mini hot pad on occasion - might just have to adopt this larger farm-ified version too.
