Conquering kids.

I don't like that I'm on this every-other-day posting schedule.  But honestly... not much is going on in my life other than work.  I haven't even taken any blog-inspiring photos lately!  I think I need a season change and some fall foliage to re-stoke my iPhone photo-taking obsession.  Soon enough.

So I survived my first week in the Pediatric E.R.  Yes, it was nerve-racking but I have great co-workers who are super knowledgeable and willing to teach me all the tricks of working with sick kids.  I put in my first I.V. in a 7 year old on Friday and, although I've done hundreds of I.V.'s on adults, I was shaking like a leaf when I went to poke that kid.  It didn't help that he was screaming and squirming all over the place, either.  But I got the I.V. in.  And the kid stopped crying soon after I gave him some stickers and turned on the 'Spiderman' cartoon.  Bribery works wonders in those situations.

We had a nice, easy Saturday.  Slept in till 7 A.M.!  Did a bunch of Saturday jobs!  Went to West Elm in search of an office chair!  Napped!  A gorgeous afternoon run followed by TRX!  And now, a relaxing evening at home with a homemade dinner and an early bedtime.  I'll be up bright and early to take care of more sick kids tomorrow.  Maybe I'll conquer my fear of putting an I.V. in a little baby.  Ugh.

(Nice 'angry face.' I hope this dude gets his bike back!)

Have you ever had a bike stolen?  I did when I was about 12 years old.  I had this sweet Marin mountain bike that my dad bought me... it was black with neon green splashed paint all over it and it had like 18 gears.  And it totally got stolen from our garage where it was chained up.  Someone really wanted my bike and went to the trouble of cutting through my lock.  Jerks.

Non-Garmin stats: Run - 5 miles.  TRX!  And lunges.  I need to get my yoga on again.  I miss it!

  1. I've been thinking about how I don't want to post any blogs because I don't have any blog worthy photos.

Good luck with poking those babies. That sounds scary.

Yeah they are building a whole new temple that has a better foundation to withstand earthquakes...you know the whole Wasatch Front just might come crumbling down one day, at least that's what people say!
