Thank you, oh wise Dwight K. Schrute!

Guess what?  It's snowing in Boston again.  I know, I know. Shocker, right?  Well it turns out, it kind of is.  According to some lifelong Bostonians that I work with, there have been winters in the past where it only snowed ONCE or TWICE the entire season!  Um, hi.  We have about 10 inches of fresh snow from today plus mounds of dirty snow from the last 4 storms that pummeled the Northeast the last few weeks.  Craziness.  It's pretty to look at but it sure is putting a damper on my outdoor running. Luckily the bike trainer is ready... rain/snow or shine!

So it turns out, my bank has NO branches in Massachusetts which is problematic seeing as though I had my first paycheck burning a hole in my pocket.  No big deal.  I'm not loyal to my current bank.  Frankly, I think all banks are essentially the same (sorry Dad!), so I just bundled myself up and took a snowy walk down the street to Bank of America and opened a new checking account.  Easy, breezy, done.  Now I have money.  Hallelujah.

I read something awesome in my Real Simple magazine last night that resonated with me and I wanted to write it down so when I recycle my magazine and it later becomes toilet paper, I'll still be able to look back and reflect on this profound thought.  Here it goes.

You don't have all the answers.  By and large, people don't like to live in the realm of "not knowing."  It's terrifying.  Which is why everybody wants to have all the answers.  Atheists think science has all the answers.  Religious fundamentalists believe their particular theology does.  But "not knowing" is a richer and more gratifying place to be.  I have no idea what is going to happen to me, why the universe is the way it is, or what will happen to my life force once my body stops working.  You probably don't either.  So just breathe and live in the great, beautiful mystery.  And floss regularly.

Wow.  Pretty profound and so true.  It's okay not to know what the future holds and it is liberating to give up the mind space and the time that it took to worry about the future and put it into what is actually going on in your life right now.  Just relax.  Focus on the here and now.  Do the best that you can in this moment.  That's all.

Lee and I both had great weeks with work so we're going to celebrate with a gourmet dinner at home and a bottle of champagne left over from New Year's.  We didn't get around to drinking it because we were in bed by 11 p.m. that night.  Party animals, I tell you.
