My love affair with San Francisco continues despite not having been here in over two years. There is just something about this city and California, in general, that speaks to me. If you've read my blog with any regularity over the years, you know my obsession with this part of the country isn't new and, if we had all the money in the world, I'd leave our beloved loft behind and move my little family out to what just might be the coolest city ever.
Sorry, Salt Lake.
After my delayed flight finally arrived, I took BART to the cutest little neighborhood of Glen Park, where my sister lives. Her 200-square foot apartment is perched on a hillside overlooking Noe Valley and she tells me she sees epic sunrises and sunsets on most days (it's raining and overcast here and will be for the rest of the weekend, so I'll just have to take her word for it).
While my sister worked yesterday, I spent the afternoon exploring the quaint downtown and the adorable neighborhoods of Glen Park, which has been nicknamed Little Switzerland because of the winding streets and impossibly steep hills where its residents reside.
I nerded out for most of my exploring by gawking at the gorgeous hillside homes (just $1.3 million for 2,500-square feet) and taking pictures of the gardens full of succulents. After I was done exploring, I headed back to the gym where my sister works to take the TRX class she teaches (ouch). And then after all that working out, we headed to the Mission for the perfect post-workout meal.
Tacos and margaritas, of course.
Weekly workouts: Monday - CrossFit! 10 sets x 1 power clean (40% of 1-rep max deadlift) @ 90lbs, then 20-minute AMRAP of 6 front squats (55lbs, no hip flexor pain!) + 8 box jumps (18") + 10 push-ups (some knees, some toes) = 10 rounds + 1 front squat. Tuesday - CrossFit! Strict shoulder press 40 reps @ 60% of 1-rep max (65lbs), then 3 RFT of 30 burpees + 30 kettle bell swings (35lbs). Wednesday - CrossFit! 50-40-30-20-10 reps for time of double-unders + wall balls (14lbs). Ouch. Thursday - TRX! With my sister teaching the class. Friday - Spin! Again with my sister teaching!
I am also obsessed with this city's succulents.
