Snowbird

Morning run sunrise.

Our move back to Utah just happened to coincide with the same week that my family has had a timeshare condo for more than 30 years. When I was growing up, the last week of August meant school would soon start but it also meant a final summer hurrah with aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends up Little Cottonwood canyon at the Iron Blosam Lodge at Snowbird. Swimming in the pool, staying up late watching movies and eating candy, taking the aerial tram to the summit of Hidden Peak. There is a magic to this place for me as so many of my childhood memories were made here.

What has been so special about this year, though, is having Alice here with me. Seeing her in the same pool I used to splash in, watching her run wild down the halls like I did, hearing her squeal in delight as I did watching the trams come and go up the mountain.

I know that when Alice is a bit older, she will look forward to the last week of August like I always did as a child.

And as I still do as an adult.

Up the canyon to Alta and back. Hello, altitude!
