the Big Weigh-In.

Okay.  So I got on the scale this morning.  But before we get to the nitty-gritty of what I weigh I just want to say that I feel really good about the amount of weight I gained during my pregnancy.  Sure, maybe I gained a few pounds more than necessary but, overall I feel like my body handled it well and my frame wasn't overwhelmed by too much weight.  I'd also like to say that I am pretty happy with how my body looks two-and-a-half weeks after having Alice.  Of course I am not as toned as I was and I have some work to do to get back in shape but, when I stand in front of the mirror, I still recognize the pre-pregnancy shape of my body.  It is still there.  And it's coming back, baby!

Although I know that weight is just a number, it is still a number that I am not super comfortable revealing.  Silly girl stuff, right?  But I will reveal what I gained during pregnancy and what I have currently lost.
  • Height = 5'8" and a half (<-- that half inch is super important).
  • Weight gained during pregnancy = 33 pounds.
  • Current weight lost at 18 days post-delivery = 24 pounds.
So I have about 9 pounds to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.  But honestly, I don't care so much about the number on the scale but more how my body fits into my clothes and how I look naked.  Because, honestly... who doesn't want to look good naked?!

And I am seriously jonesing for some good, sweat-inducing, heart-pumping workouts.  But I am going to be smart and start slowly.  Yoga.  Pure Barre.  Slow and easy runs.  And stretching.  Lots and lots of stretching.

I know I am not supposed to work out for 3 or so more weeks but can't I just do some super easy yoga or something?!  I'm dying to get my body moving and walks around the neighborhood just aren't cutting it!

  1. Holy cow, Bri! That's awesome! 9 lbs away from your pre baby weight??? I've never beeen pregnant but it seems like people are always struggling to take much, much more off. I can only hope and pray my body doesn't blow up to the size of a sumo wrestler when I get pregnant. ;)

  2. If you feel comfortable, you can totally start a little something. I ran 8 days after delivering and was back at hot yoga within 9. If you need to stop, your body will let you know!

  4. You look amazing. Keep up the positive attitude, and having a goal is so important. It's so nice to be so close already! I think it took me 3 months to get back, and I think that was even faster than I had expected.

Keep up with the walking and try to job a bit if you're feeling good! Just don't push it and your body will let you know!
