Something very strange happened to me yesterday morning on my way to Crossfit. Our car is in the shop this week so I biked the few short miles to the gym just a little after 5AM. So there I am, minding my own business, biking downhill at a pretty good speed when, all of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye I see this small brown, furry thing zooooooming right towards me. Because it was still twilight I couldn't tell what it was let alone swerve out of the way to avoid it.
So I hit it! Or, more accurately, it hit me.
I felt whatever the hell it was hit my foot, then my back tire, and then I ran over it. It all happened so quickly! I feel pretty confident that I didn't kill it, though, as I didn't see any fresh roadkill at the scene of the incident as I biked home after my workout.
There are a lot of things that make me nervous about bike-commuting in Boston. Big trucks. Car doors. Oblivious pedestrians.
I just never thought that small, brown, furry things would be one of them.
Weekly Workouts: Monday - Crossfit: 30 ring dips + 15 wall climbs. Tuesday - Run! 3.7 miles, although I could've taken a rest day as my ribs were so sore from those wall climbs! Wednesday - Crossfit: Split jerks 7 sets of 2 (95lbs), then 24 push-press (65lbs) + a whole bunch of jump rope. Thursday - Crossfit: Bike to/from (2.6 miles), Dead lifts 4 sets of 4 (105lbs), then 25 box jumps (20in) + 3 minutes L-hang (my poor hands!!). Friday - Rest day!
