So I am totally starting to freak out... I can't help it! I am embarking on a CRAZY 100-mile journey in, like, less than 3 days! Holy *$#%. I think I'll be less nervous when the race actually starts and all I have to do is run. The preparation and the planning is what is killing me! How do I know what I need to put in my drop bags?!? What if I put something in a drop bag for the Big Mountain station and then realize I need it at Lambs?!? Should I tape my feet before I run or when I feel a 'hot spot'? These are the types of thoughts that are constantly going thru my head as race day approaches.
I've nailed down all my pacers and, in fact, I now have too many! Thank you to all who have given your support either in words of encouragement or in person... it truly means so much. I've collected a few quotes that I hope will inspire me to ignore the pain and discomfort and push on to the finish. Here they are.... feel free to add your own.
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. "
- Lance Armstrong
"Run when you can, walk when you have to... just never give up!" - Unknown
"Ask yourself, 'Can I give more?' The answer is usually 'YES!'" -Paul Tergat
"The miracle isn't that I finished... the miracle is that I had the courage to start."
- John Bingham
Evan always tells my son, "It will only hurt until the pain goes away." Profound, I know. You'll be great, Vrana.
ReplyDeleteI am seriously getting the chills right now thinking about you running 100 miles. I can not tell you how many people I have bragged about you to out here in the midwest. I wish I could be there so desperitely! Words can not begin to describe what a one in a million person I think you are. Just wanted to let you know I have been thinking about you daily for the last week. 100 FREAKING MILES!
