Oxbow Public Market.

Touring the Oxbow in her new green boots from the Napa Goodwill.

As you can imagine, Napa is full of noteworthy and famous places to eat and drink. One of my favorite places to go to when visiting my dad, though, is the Oxbow Public Market in downtown Napa. It's a mix of a farmers market sharing space with small food vendors, wine bars, a distillery, a cupcake shop and much more.

We had a lunch of tacos (my favorite was the skirt steak with grilled onions, blue cheese, jalapeƱos, avocado, garlic aioli & cilantro) from C Casa while one of us took turns running around with Alice showing her the sights and specifically the lobster tank. Because god forbid she sit still while we enjoyed a meal all together! After lunch Alice and I shared a coconut cupcake from Kara's and then my sister twisted my arm and talked me into a salted caramel ice cream cone from Three Twins.

And after one bite, Alice promptly took my cone for herself.

Everything about this place screams California with its commitment to local food and sustainable farming and, be still my heart, recycling and composting! Their mission statement even has me swooning:

"The Market has a commitment to the unique character, spirit and content of the Public Market not only as a place to display and sell organic and/or sustainably-produced local crops, other regional specialties, and other high quality and unique food products, but also as a place that actively supports sustainable and organic farming practices, owner-operated businesses, local food producers and the agricultural community of the Napa Valley and surrounding regions."

If you're ever in Napa, you must go to the Oxbow Public Market. Be warned, though: We were there on a Monday and it was crowded. So either chose your day wisely or be prepared to fight the crowds. But trust me, it's totally worth it.

  1. What a cool market. It does have a lot of stuff and happy colors, which would be pretty fun for a 2 yr old to explore. The green boots are great. I bet she loves them. Have fun! xo
