Ride with a View.

  1. Pastures and farm roads.
  2. My Cervelo.  It rides like a dream.
  3. Homemade energy bars.
  4. Star flowers.
The past two Sundays I've gotten up early to go for a bike ride.  All by myself, just me and my bike.  It feels unbelievable to be biking again.  Oh, how I've missed it!  Surprisingly, there is some pretty spectacular road riding not far from us.  Past cow pastures, corn fields and horse farms.  Over bridges, around lakes and through roads thick with trees.  The temperatures are cool.  The air is fresh.  The quietness of the morning is calming.  Just the clink of gears shifting and the occasional friendly good mornings from other bikers.  I managed to ride 45 miles last Sunday and 42 miles yesterday.  So good for my soul.  And, of course, for the fit of my jeans.

Damn, it feels good to be a biker.

What time of day do you prefer to work out?  First thing in the morning, for sure.  Although I don't always love getting up early, once I am out there on the road, either running or riding, I am happy.  That early morning workout sort of sets the precedence for my day.  After I've put in the effort to do something healthy, I tend to continue to make healthy choices for the rest of the day.  Plus, I am more likely to slack or skip out on on an afternoon workout.  I mean... hello?!  Afternoon is almost happy hour!

  2. beautiful photos. Time to work out? What is that?

If I had a gym with childcare, I would go in the morning. It wakes me up and gets me going. My only exercise right now is daily walks with my dog and Nolan in the stroller.

    good for you!

  3. I love mountain biking but am embarrassed to say I haven't gone once in the year and a half since having a kid. Your exercise ethic is inspiring!

  4. The greenery on your bike ride looks beautiful. While I do like an energizing workout in the morning if I'm spending the day at home with Lulu, I find that a workout in the afternoon, after work is the best. It wakes you up after spending all day at the computer.

  5. That sounds great... what a beautiful area to bike through. And your energy treat looks delish. You are an inspiration to me to get out more on my bike. I feel good if I ride to work and back and that is about 7 miles round trip. Wow, 40+ miles in the morning. You must be ridin' like the wind! Keep up the good workouts! xoxo
