Most Delicious.

Farmers Market Finds. June 2012.

It was a successful day at the Farmers Market yesterday.  Just look at that haul!  And it was so nice to see the familiar faces of the farmers.  To see them set up in exactly the same spots as last year.  To see the dedication and time they have already put into their gardens this year.  And to see them being successful in making a living using the earth to grow healthy food.

It's going to be a great summer full of great food.

When I got to the front of the line to buy my fresh seafood, the woman saw that I was holding a baby and came over to look at her sleeping face.  She oooed and awwwed over Alice, asking me how old she was and how I was doing as a new mom.  And then I remembered being at that farmers market last year, not pregnant but wanting to be.  And here I was, a year later, holding my 12-week old baby.  I'll admit, it sort of brought tears to my eyes.  Pretty unbelievable.

After a full day out of the house with Alice, I was excited to be home to make this most delicious smoothie.  I never really measure when it comes to smoothies and I usually end up with way too much.  Yesterday was no exception.  Oh well.

Afternoon Smoothie:
  • Handful of strawberries
  • Spoonful of honey
  • Heaping spoonful of Greek yogurt
  • Spoonful of chia seeds
  • Splash of milk
  • Splash of vanilla extract
  • Splash of coffee
  • A few ice cubes
Put all of that into a blender.  Blend until smooth.  And enjoy.  Share, if you must.

I'm sure you are thinking Coffee in a smoothie?  But it was so good.  Gave it just a hint of coffee flavor and a kick of caffeine.  Making smoothies is like making soup.  You can throw pretty much anything in there and it will be good.  Try it with coffee.  I think you'll like it.

  1. You have a great farmers market. I will have to try your smoothie recipe. We are going to visit the "Park City Silly Sunday Market" tomorrow morning. It has mostly Arts, Vendors and Live Music. Small area 12 or so vendors in fresh veggies, fruits, etc. Weather in Utah will be wonderful around 90+ and NO humidity. xoxo
