Moving on.

I totally have a night-shift hangover today.  Although I slept almost the entire day, working the last two nights has left me feeling foggy-headed and out-of-sorts.  Luckily I have one night off then it's back at 'em for two more night shifts.  Cry me a river, right?

Our lovely little loft in downtown Salt Lake City has a new resident.  It is so bittersweet for me to think about someone else living in our home... to imagine someone else setting up their life in there.  But it would be ridiculous for us to keep it empty so Lee is we are being realistic and renting it.  It's okay.  It's just a loft.  I'm sure he/she will love it as much as we do (at least I hope).

My patio door is open.  The light is fading.  A cool fall breeze is drifting in.  Lee is on his way home from work with a pizza.  It is the perfect night to snuggle up on the couch and catch up on our last two days (when I work night shifts, we don't see each other at all).  A perfect night!

I guess I'm not cut out to be a real estate businesswoman.  I get so emotional over a living space!  Have you ever sold or rented out a home/loft/condo that you love so much and can't imagine anyone else living there?  Maybe it's because I've never lived in a place of my own, meaning my whole life has been lived in rented spaces.  This was the first place that I've lived where we were the owners, where we owned something.  I need to get over it, I guess (but it is amazingly spectacular).

  1. i am in love with your loft and I am only seeing a picture of it!! What a lovely and perfect space. I can see why it would be hard to leave. Marathons after kids. Definitely doable but I had NO desire until after I was done with kids. Too tired. Having a little one takes so much out of your body...lack of sleep, making milk, and so much more. I just wasn't cut out for marathon training that soon but I know people who are. :) How are you feeling?? Other than tired from work. What week are you?

  2. Our home in Utah has renters, but we are not emotionally attached to the house. I love your loft, though. And it's in a great location, I can see where you would be sad to leave it.
