Yes! It's (almost) Monday!

(The historic South End. Boston, MA.)

I know you're going to think I'm crazy... but I'm glad the weekend is over.  I really am.  It just means it's that much closer to Wednesday when Lee will be home.  I miss him!

I did manage to get out and about a bit this weekend.  I went to an awesome spin class in the South End with my friend.  The music was loud.  The studio was dark.  The instructor was tough.  It was a great class.  I'll definitely go back.

I just got home from a totally invigorating run.  I kind of moped about all morning, feeling a bit sorry for myself (at least I'm honest!) and, after a talk with Lee (who is waaaaay over in Germany), I peeled myself off the couch and laced up my running shoes.  I am so glad I did.  It had just stopped raining so it was cool and misty and perfect.   One of the many things I love about running is all that you see and discover while you're out there.  Every time I go on a run in my neighborhood, I discover some cool street or hidden trail or small lake or historic statue.  It's awesome.  And now a quote.  It's one of my favorites and describes my love for running perfectly.

"I always loved running...it was something you could do by yourself and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs." - Jesse Owens

Okay.  This is personal.  Do you have issues with chafing when you run?  Ooooooooh.  Chafing.  Why must you exist?!  Body Glide and petroleum jelly work but, after awhile, NOTHING helps.  Do you have a solution?

Garmin stats: 5 miles/40 minutes.  Just what I needed!  And I discovered a new little trail!

  1. Ugh. Last Monday for my 8 miler I wore a pair of shorts I haven't worn since last year. I remembered why about 3 miles into the run. THEY CHAFE like a mofo. I went and bought a pair of tight capris made out of the material of biking shorts. Um...they were wonderful. Only gliding and sliding...no rubbing or chafing. It is love.

  2. Ugh, chafing! I body glide everything I can but sometimes I can't help it! I actually switched to a brand called Mission Skincare and it works better for me!

  3. I chafe right where the bottom of my sports bra meets my sternum (only way I could think to describe it). Body Glide usually gets the job done but if I forget...oh my. Showering when chafed is NOT fun!
